Alcove gravel rides

Alcôve, above all, is an adventure bike collective. Its goal is simple: to bring together cyclists of all kinds and from all walks of life in order to give them memorable experiences. Alcôve will make you discover, through unique routes, the hidden jewels of Quebec with their breathtaking views, distinct characters and local products.

Born from the desire to explore the limitless potential of adventure biking, their mission is to develop unique and varied cycling experiences, suitable for all levels of expertise, they are there to encourage and promote the accessibility and diversity of cycling.

The first weekend ride we went out with @alcove_gravel and departed near the quaint village of Lost River (Riviere Perdu). It was a challenging loop of 70km with 580m of elevation, along the river at times, while other times venturing into the woods. Some of the sections of this were inspired by the great gravel event of the "Big Red Gravel Run". Combining asphalt, gravel, mountain bike trail and even a bit of "singletrack", the circuit was perfect for those who want to perfect their techniques and get out of their comfort zone. Heading out with a fun group of folks, we biked, we swam, we sweat a lot, rode some more and finished it off with more swimming + watermelon + a cold one from @laknowltonco. What more could you ask for?

The second amazingly beautiful weekend ride we went out with the @alcove_gravel crew was to deep into @tourismemauricie country. A region less known than Estrie and the Laurentians, but just as grandiose, the Mauricie will test your resilience and your legs. This loop of 85km and more than 1000m of elevation was a wild one to say the least. Following old hunting and mountain bike trails, we reached some sections of sand and even a "rock garden". The two things we didn’t encounter on this big ride were pavement and a cell signal! All in all, big tires and big smiles were in order as we dove into numerous backcountry roads and trails. The weather and conditions were in tune as the trees were starting to show their fall colours. A few spills and mechanical difficulties arose but everyone banded together to make sure we all arrived back at camp for some cold beers.

We can’t wait to see what rides and explorations Alcove serves up in 2022. Be sure to register for their newsletter so you can be one of the first to sign-up for their group rides as space is limited and it fills up fast! Hope to see you out there!
