Hanah Review
Let’s be honest: It’s been a hard time for everyone around the world these past six months. Yet there have been a few bright spots. One: working out at home in your pajamas has become the norm. Two: people have more time to explore and have adventures in their local environment. Three: we are always looking for more ways to boost our immunity and feel healthier. The list could go on, but one thing that I found makes me feel better and more focused during these times are a few items from the Hanah’s natural supplements.
Initially, I was curious about Hanah after reading about other cyclists and outdoor athletes raving about these natural supplements. I contacted Hanah directly to see if I could try a few of their products like Hanah One and, at the time, their new product called Coffee Boost. I wanted to incorporate these products into my daily routine and see if they would make a difference. My morning breakfast routine is pretty consistent and since I already start my day off with a smoothy and a coffee, Hanah One and the Coffee Boost worked itself in seamlessly. As a side note, I don’t usually take supplements, but depend more on the foods that are in my day to day diet to stay healthy.
Hanah’s products are based on Ayurveda, the Hindu system of medicine that promotes whole-body health through diet, herbs, and physical wellness. These products were born after Hanah’s founder, Joel Einhorn, turned to Ayurveda after western medicine practices failed to heal physical and mental ailments he experienced after a severe bike crash.
Hanah One
Hanah One is a rich brown thick paste-like supplement made up of 30 botanicals that boast benefits like inflammation, mental clarity, stress, immune function, and energy, all of which I could use more of. Their site goes into more detail how they are sustainably grown and harvested, which is also a bonus.
Opening the jar of Hanah One I immediately noticed how rich and deep its smells. I took a small sample on a spoon to see how it tastes. My first reaction was how surprisingly rich of a flavour it had, with sweet gingery/earthy-like tones. It took a day or two to get used to. After that initial tasting though I started to crave it and eat it directly on a spoon. I began adding the HANAH ONE to my coffee in the morning, giving it a hint of herbal-sweet flavor. I love my coffee more straight up, so I decided to try it in a smoothy instead. This turned out to be a great success, giving it a much richer flavour without overpowering it. I also think it would be nice to have it in their hot chocolate recipe or in a creamy iced coffee.
The first big difference I noticed was that my energy levels and mood felt more evened out and equalized longer without a huge spike. My energy gradually leveled so much so that I felt that I didn’t need a coffee later in the day. I also hate to say it, but I almost felt like I didn’t need that initial coffee in the morning. I also tried bringing a small amount on my long bike rides for that extra little boost, with great results of giving me that extra little push to overcome bonking without sugar or caffeine.
Coffee boost
Coffee Boost, on the other hand, contains only a small amount of ingredients you may know, like coconut milk powder and ashwagandha extract.
This supplement in powder form is said to elevate mood and energy, lower stress and improve focus, and improve memory and overall cognition, among other things.
While stirring a teaspoon of this powder into my morning coffee I wondered if it would make it less appealing, as I do like my coffee on its own. After the first sip though, I was hooked. It subtly gave it more depth and richness with a touch of creaminess without overpowering it. If staying healthy and gaining more energy tastes this good and is this easy, sign me up! It was also a great addition to bring along on some overnight trips in the woods to give me that extra boost and focus to cover more kilometers in the day.
Final thoughts
Overall, I was super impressed with the quality, ease of use, versatility, and the noticeable corresponding health results from these two supplements. Another bonus are the numerous recipes that Hanah provides on their website to incorporate the supplements into your daily routine. It was more than enough to motivate me to make it a part of my daily ritual and even incorporate it into some of my outdoor pursuits to help me go further.
